Our name “Nagomi no Wa”, means calm, quiet, harmonious, peaceful, friendly, all those warm feelings.  It is the warmth of a peaceful heart and mind, through works of art made by hand with slow and careful traditional Japanese techniques, and the quiet and warmth of traditional Japanese materials.

In Japan, there is a strong tradition of handmade arts and crafts, making functional yet beautiful works of art with washi, traditional Japanese paper.  Unfortunately, little by little the artisans who make these wonderful things are decreasing.

We hope to keep these traditions alive, appreciating things made by the hands and heart of an individual.  In this way, we can convey the warmth of the arts of our ancestors to future generations.
